Reducing our plastic waste isn't easy, especially when plastic is so convenient and is EVERYWHERE. but here are 6 quick ways to help reduce your family's plastic waste.
Make it easier for yourself. Since the plastic bag charge has come in most people take bags out with them but keeping them in a handy place just makes it that little bit more convenient. (and saves you money) Fabric bags are always best and they look nicer.
Research suggests that if you see something next to you then you are more likely to use it. A perfect example of this is your mobile phone. If you have a water bottle then you're not only helping the environment but you are much more likely to drink water. And many coffee shops are now giving discount to people who bring their own coffee cups.
Buying items in bulk not only reduces the packaging but generally saves you a lot of money. If you can then opt for glass or cardboard over plastics- and believe me I know just how hard that can be sometimes.
Why did soap go out of fashion? We were all told it dries your skin up and isn't good for you but thats not the case. And I have recently found out it is great at getting out stubborn stains on clothing as well as cleaning bath scum.
Plastic straws are such a quick and simple way to make a change. Many bars and restaurants are switching to paper straws but if plastic is the only option then just say no. It might not save your lippy but it will save the environment (and its better for your teeth)
Plastic on your face?? Most of us don't even realise how many beauty products contain polypropylene or polyethylene. These micro-plastics are almost impossible to filter out of the water so inevitably end up in the sea. They are found in exfoliators, face washes and even toothpaste so check the packaging before you buy.
