Based in Market Harborough's Indoor Market on Tuesdays (9-4) Fridays (9-2) and Saturdays (9-4) this is a great place to go for your dry goods and liquids, while you're there why not pop to the fruit & Veg stall opposite.
Located on Farndon Road on the edge of Market Harborough (LE16 9NP) this farm shop has everything including a butchers that allows you to use your own containers. It's a bit pricey, personally I prefer to use it as a stop off for lunch rather than doing my weekly shop but they have a huge range of products.
After getting the majority of my shopping from The Indoor Market I like to pass by Emerson And West on Northampton Road (LE16 9HB) for bread and cheese.
The Nest on the High Street (CV21 3BG) in Rugby sells a vast array of different locally made products including soaps, gifts and more recently dry goods courtesy of Zero. Open 10am-5:50pm six days a week, it's a bit of a tardis so take your time looking around or you might miss something.
On Main Street in Stretton under Fosse, (CV23 0PE) this farm shop is great. Again, as most farm shops are, it's a little on the pricey side but it has a coffee shop and a really good butchers. They also have a fantastic Pick Your Own range.
This is where it all started for me, an ex colleague of mine set this up with her partner and they have become a power team. The shop itself, although not huge, has a large selection of goods and they also hold workshops throughout the year. Situated in Digbeth On Gibb Street (B9 4BF ) so t is surrounded by like-minded businesses and has the local market just up the road near the Bullring. Open from 10-7 Tuesday-Friday and 9-6:30 Saturdays.
Joseph Morris Butchers have been around since 1930 so they know their stuff. They have three shops in Rugby, Wigston, and South Kilworth but a lot of local shops and pubs also use their meat or sell their pork pies. I use their Rugby shop every month. Central Park, Bryant Road, Rugby CV23 0WE. Not only are they encouraging their customers to take their own containers, the prices are really reasonable and the staff are so friendly. You can pre-order or just pop in. Open at 7:30am six days a week closing early (1pm) on a Saturday and Monday.
The girls at Zero have been busy launching a lot of new pop up shops in the midlands including one at The Nest in Rugby. They also have a shop in Binley, Cawston & Coventry or you can order through their site and they will deliver it to you.
Located in St Martin's Square ( LE1 5DG) in Leicester City Centre this shop is both practical and beautiful. They even often a click and collect service. Their range includes cosmetics, feminine products, water bottles as well as cleaning products and detergents.
Basically doing exactly what it says on the tin, Cheese On The Green is a cheese shop on the Green in Bilton (CV22 7LZ) The varieties of cheese are brilliant and a lot of them are local. Not as cheap as the supermarket but the strength of flavour means you don't need as much.
This fantastic farm shop located in Catthorpe, lutterworth (LELE176DS) has made a real effort to increase their plastic free range. The shop isn't big but has a good selection of fruit and veg, frozen goods, local alcohol, cheese etc. They also have a cafe (serving a brilliant breakfast) animals that the kids love to look at, and a home interiors shop with some individual items. Open 7 days a week.
I used to work here part time in my uni days and it's changed a lot since then. it's located on the Fosse Way just after Hunningham village. ( CV33 9EL) The shop although small holds a good selection of local products and they have their own butchers. The restaurant and cafe does brilliant freshly cooked wholesome meals and they now have a bar area. There are some independent shops in the barn as you come in too. The view over Leam Valley can't be beaten and they have a great outdoor space for kids in the summer.
